Nursing & Engineering Innovation Fellowship

Overview of Opportunity:

We are excited to share this unique opportunity for undergraduate nursing and engineering students. The Nursing and Engineering Innovation Fellowship is an interdisciplinary opportunity for students to work in teams and ideate, create, develop, and advance evidence-based healthcare technology innovations that address a pervasive unmet need in equitable healthcare quality. The fellowship is designed to foster creativity and collaboration and to develop entrepreneurial and innovative thinking over an academic year.

The selected Nursing and Engineering Innovation Fellows will collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team (Nursing and Engineering) to address a healthcare challenge in need of a technological solution. With the support of mentors of the program, the Nursing and Engineering Fellows will identify and investigate a healthcare problem and work as a team to develop a prototype solution in response. Teams can apply for up to $2000 in seed funding to support prototype development and will present their solution at the end of the Fellowship year. Teams can apply for up to $2000.00 in seed funding to develop their healthcare technology prototype.

*** Nursing and Engineering Innovation Fellows do not need prior experience in problem identification, prototype and solution development, innovation, or entrepreneurship. This is a didactic and experiential learning opportunity, where fellows will be trained in all aspects of healthcare innovation as part of the program.
